Philosophy & Photography
Photography is my favourite form of artistic expression. The combination of perception, creativity, skill and story telling make for a pursuit that takes abstract thinking, time and experience to improve. It’s an adventure with no destination with rules that are meant to be broken. Skills and knowledge gained in seemingly unrelated aspects of life somehow become useful tools in the creation of these images. A student of life may ponder the insignificant meaning of behaviour of ants in the sand and learn to read the weather. A curious mind will walk the extra mile for the possible reward of the unknown. These beautiful aspects of life are what I draw upon and respect in a photographers work.
SS City of Adelaide
Roughly a year after buying my first DSLR and a lot of time spent with my head down the photography rabbit hole on YouTube I was fortunate to be awarded with Australian Tourism’s Photo of Year 2018.
It was a pleasant surprise that my new hobby had done so well, and really catapulted my intrigue as to how a simple image can be so impactful on people’s lives.
Aside from the award it is one of my favourite photos to this day - a story of rebirth, growth and hope.
